Frequently asked questions
What is a flipbook?
A flipbook is an interactive digital version of a static document such as a PDF, whose pages can be turned like a real book or magazine. It is used to share books, digital magazines, catalogs, brochures, reports and presentations online in a more readable and engaging way.
Is creating a flipbook from a PDF free?
Yes. Flipbook Workshop is completely free and requires no sign-up or registration. No ads, watermarks or logos are added to the flipbook you create.
Will my flipbook show ads?
No. The flipbook you create with Flipbook Workshop is completely ad-free; no ads, watermarks, logos or tracking code are added to it. The ads on this page are shown only on the converter page and keep the tool free; they are never carried into your ZIP file or your flipbook.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion is done entirely in your browser with PDF.js. Your PDF and the resulting page images are never sent to a server; the result is kept only in the open page and you download it as a ZIP.
Which PDF files can be converted?
PDFs up to 300 MB and 1000 pages can be converted. Password-protected PDFs are not supported. Two-page spreads in books exported as spreads from tools like InDesign are detected automatically and split into single pages.
How do I add the flipbook to my website?
Unzip the downloaded file and upload the folder inside it to your web server (for example with the cPanel File Manager or FTP). Share the folder's address as a link or embed it in your page with an iframe: <iframe src="https://yoursite.com/book_flipbook/" width="100%" height="600" allow="fullscreen"></iframe>
Does the flipbook work on mobile devices?
Yes. The flipbook scales to the screen: two pages side by side on wide screens and a single page on phones and portrait screens. Pages are turned by swiping or tapping.
Which image quality (DPI) should I choose?
The default 130 DPI gives a good balance between sharp on-screen pages and a reasonable file size for most books and magazines. For small print or pages that will be read with the magnifier, choose 160–200 DPI; the higher the DPI, the larger the ZIP file.
Can the flipbook be opened without an internet connection?
Yes. The folder in the ZIP consists of a single HTML page and the page images and needs no external libraries. Open the index.html file in the folder to view the flipbook offline.
