Kocaman Version 1.6
With Kocaman Version 1.6, which will be published on Google Play in the coming hours, you can now use your phone’s GPS to stake out coordinates in the 3-degree UTM system and read the 3-degree UTM coordinates of your current location. Although smartphone GPS receivers do not yet provide location information at the desired accuracy, it will be very useful for users looking for triangulation points in the field or wanting to reach a fixed point, even with an error of a few metres. Although Kocaman Version 1.6 currently works only on the WGS84 ellipsoid, it will be possible to obtain coordinates on the ITRF96 and ED50 ellipsoids in future versions. In a way, considering that the radii of the WGS84 and ITRF96 ellipsoids are very close to each other, for now the desired approximate location can be reached in the WGS84 system using the ITRF96 coordinates we have.
Making the GPS Stake-out module added with Version 1.6 work fully as intended, and fixing its shortcomings and any bugs, is planned through the updates leading up to version 2.0. For this reason, feedback on user experience in this and future version updates will contribute greatly to the program.
Wishing all users the best with it…
